What are the different types of Whiskey?
Single Malt
A distillery restaurant offers a single malt whiskey. The term “single” means that it was made in one place and not sourced from elsewhere. It does not matter if multiple batches were mixed during production.
Blended whiskeys are also more highly regarded than single-malt Scotch. They are more critical than blended whiskeys because they reflect the location and distillery where they were produced.
Due to the unique flavors of single malt whisky, the peat used to smoke barley, and the wood from which it was made, the regions where they are produced have distinct flavor profiles. This unique flavor profile pairs well with other artisan-like components, creating a sense of authenticity and making each bottle feel special.
It has an ABV between 40 and 65 percent and 64 to 97 calories per shot. It can be aged for up to five years.
Malt
Malt whiskey, like single malt, is made from fermented mashing primarily of malted barley. Adding other malted grains to malt whiskey is possible, but these whiskeys must have their grains identified as “Rye Whisky” or “buckwheat Malt Whiskey.”A single distiller can make a whiskey. This is called “single malt whiskey.”
Grain Whiskey
Grain whisky, a Scottish or Irish whiskey made with malted barley and other grains, is also known as Irish Whiskey. It can contain any combination of grains or any combination thereof. Because wheat contributes more to the distillery’s supply than corn (often used earlier due to price concerns), most distilleries use it.
It is primarily intended for mixing with other liquors so the flavor profile is clean and free from any spiciness or fruitiness that may develop over time.

Straight Whiskeys
Although there are many types of whiskeys, they all belong to the same umbrella. There are four main classifications: bourbon (rye), wheat, and malt whiskeys. If the beverage has not been aged more than 2 years, it can be classified as straight.
Straight Bourbon whiskey must be made according to strict guidelines. Straight Whiskey must comply with three conditions: It cannot exceed 80% ABV and must contain at least 51% corn. The Whiskey must also have for at least two years at a maximum of 62.5% ABV.
It is common to hear the terms “straight whiskey” and “straight whiskey bourbon.” If you see “straight whiskey,” it is not a product that meets the minimum requirement of at least 51%. It doesn’t meet the standard for bourbon or any other spirit, such as bourbon.
