Decaf tastes and appears similar to regular coffee. However, it contains little or no caffeine. Coffee beans have caffeine but manufacturers steam or soak unroasted beans using water and chemicals like methylene chloride, activated charcoal, ethyl acetate, or activated charcoal to eliminate it or lessen the percentage. It is called the decaffeination process, which is conducted before roasting the beans.
